SEA DOGS NOTEBOOK

STICH SUSPENDED
Former Sea Dogs defenseman David Stich was suspended on November 2nd by the QMJHL for two games. Stich received a penalty for being the aggressor on a play during last Saturday’s game between the Rocket and the Junior.

Stich is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound native of Pizen, Czech Republic, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2006 CHL Import Draft. The 20-year-old was acquired by the Juniors in a trade with Saint John Sea Dogs in exchange for a third-round pick in next year's QMJHL draft.

GELINAS THE TOPS
Goaltender Marc-Antoine Gelinas tops TSN’s weekly QMJHL power rankings this week. In last week’s rankings the Sea Dogs overage goaltender was sixth out of 15 players. Of the 15 players in rankings, 10 of them are not drafted or are draft eligible for the NHL.

STILL HOT DOGS
The Saint John Sea Dogs are still the hottest team in the QMJHL this week according to Patrick King of Rogers Sportsnet. King placed the Dogs has this week’s hot team for the second straight week. The Sea Dogs have now won a franchise record nine straight games.

Here is what King had to say: “The Sea Dogs are beginning to pull away from the pack in the top-heavy Atlantic Division. Saint John won all three games on their Telus Eastern Division road trip to extend their winning streak to eight games. The red-hot Sea Dogs have the league’s best record and are now seven points up on Moncton for the division lead.”

AUTOGRAPH SESSIONS ANNOUNCED
Something that Station Nation has been asking for years is finally becoming a reality. The Sea Dogs have announced two team and player autograph signings during the month of November. This coming Tuesday the Sea Dogs will be at Mark’s Work Wearhouse (171 Mcallister Drive) at 6:30 pm for a player signing session. The team will be at Centennial Pontiac (160 Rothesay Ave.) on Wednesday November 18 at 6:00 pm.

THE WEEKEND AHEAD
The Sea Dogs five game home stand continues this coming Saturday and Sunday when the Dogs host Rouyn-Noranda. Saturday is “Sea Dogs Night Out” featuring the 97.3 The Wave (not so) Extreme Team. Game time is 7:00 pm.

On Sunday the Sea Dogs are asking fans to wear red in support of our Canadian Forces. The game is the annual “Support our Troops Day” with military vehicles on display on the concourse. Special $10 upper bowl tickets can be acquired for this game. Game time is 4:00 pm.

A FEW REMIDERS…
The Saint John Sea Dogs Foundation will be continuing to sell 2010 team calendars this weekend. The cost is $15 and you can pick yours up at Sea Dogs Central on game days. They are very, very nice calendars and well worth the $15. The only error is that they placed the old Ottawa Senators logo on Mike Hoffman’s picture.

Also, you can purchase five and ten game mini packs this weekend at Sea Dogs Styles in the lobby of Harbour Station. Visit saintjohnseadogs.com for information and special promotions going on this weekend regarding the packages.

AUCTION HAS SOME TWISTS
The Sea Dogs 2008-2009 white jersey auction began this week. The selection includes the likes of NHL draft picks Alex Grant, Yann Sauve, Steven Anthony, world junior hero Chris DiDomenico, and first round pick Simon Despres. Minimum bids are $100.

There are some interesting jersey's up for sale as well. The hated mascot Splash has his #00 up for auction. Mitchell Price, who played only five games in 2005-2006, has his sweater up for auction. Current Windsor Spitfire Troy Passingham's sweater is also listed. He has been one the best goalies in the CHL this season.
