SEA DOGS NOTEBOOK

LECOMTE COMES CLOSE
Benjamin Lecomte capped off an impressive week by just coming up short for the QMJHL defensive player of the week award. Mooseheads goalie Mathieu Corbeil, who came up just short of ending the Sea Dogs winning streak on Wednesday, won the honor.

After being scratched on Wednesday versus Halifax, Lecomte had two goals and an assist on Saturday against his former team. Than on Sunday he had two assists against the same Huskies team. "It was great to get two wins against my former team,'' said Lecomte to the Telegraph-Journal."It was more motivation. I know all the players over there.''

GALLANT OFF TO TORONTO
Sea Dogs head coach Gerard Gallant is in Toronto tonight for the Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony. You can watch the event live at 8:00 pm AST on TSN.

Gallant is a good friend and former team mate of inductee Steve Yzerman. Yzerman joins Brian Leetch, Brett Hull, and Luc Robitaille as this years inductees. New Jersey Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello will be enshrined as a builder.

STRANGE SCTRATCH
Stanislav Galiev missed his first game of the season yesterday afternoon after being a healthy scratch. He joined Gabriel Bourret in the stands. Head coach Gerard Gallant would not give any details to Tim Roszell of News 88.9 other than he needed a “mental rest” to clear his head. The rookie sits third in team scoring.

TROOPS SUPPORTED
The Sea Dogs added a nice touch to “Support our Troops Day” on Sunday at Harbour Station. The Sea Dogs raised a banner after their celebrations that read “Support our Troops.” There was also a pre-game ceremony in honor of Remembrance Day which takes place on Wednesday.

HELMET CONFUSION
There was defiantly some confusion this weekend about starting goaltenders for the two games versus Rouyn-Noranda. The Sea Dogs had a story on saintjohnseadogs.com saying that Karel St. Laurent would retire his famous “support our troops” mask on Sunday, which made most assume he would play. Instead, St. Laurent got the start on Saturday wearing his new mask and Marc-Antoine Gelinas started on Sunday.
