FLASHBACK
Past Saint John Sea Dogs to play in the Top Prospects Game include defensemen Yann Sauvé, Simon Després, and David Stich as well as goaltender Robert Mayer.

Sauvé is thus far the lone Sea Dog to have been on the winning side of the contest, winning with Team Red in 2008. His participation in the event is one of the most memorable moments in franchise history. He dropped the gloves with 2008 first round pick Steven Stamkos when the event was held in Edmonton.

“It’s no surprise when you are playing with the best players in the Canadian Hockey League,” said Stamkos, who had a goal and an assist to go along with a fighting major in the closing minutes of the game. “The pace was unbelievable.”

Sauve had one assist in the game.

If you read Station Nation earlier this season, you’ll know of the curse Stanislav Galiev is trying to break. He is looking to become the first Sea Dog import to play in the game and get drafted in the same year.

Galiev is also the first Sea Dog forward to play in the event.

QMJHL WELL REPRESENTED
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is well represented this year. QMJHL products in this game are goaltenders Louis Domingue (Quebec) and Maxime Clermont (Gatineau), defencemen Brandon Gormley (Moncton) and Jerome Gauthier-Leduc (Rouyn-Noranda) and forwards Louis- Marc Aubry (Montreal), Jakub Culek (Rimouski), Stanislav Galiev (Saint John), Michael Bournival (Shawinigan) and Petr Straka (Rimouski).

"It's an honour to be here and it's a real exciting opportunity for all the players to be here," said Moncton Wildcat Brandon Gormley, a 17-year-old from Murray River, PEI. "You grow up watching this game and seeing all the players that (played in the game before) - it's a real honour to be here."

"I was pretty excited to get named to his team” said Gormley, who has six goals and 29 points in 40 games with the Wildcats this season. "Either coach would be a dream come true to meet them but especially Bobby Orr with me being a defenceman - it's great to be here and it’s great to have him as a coach."
