CANUCKS ADVANCE WITH PERFECT RECORD

Team Canada finished with a perfect 3-0 record in the preliminary round of the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka under-18 hockey tournament after defeating Slovakia 6-1 today.

Boone Jenner had a pair of goals for the winners while Duncan Siemens, Scott Harrington, Myles Bell, and Matt Puempel added singles.

Saint John Sea Dogs forward Jonathan Huberdeau recorded an assist on Jenner’s third period goal at 10:40 – just 20 seconds after Jenner scored his first goal.

Tyson Teichmann made 25 saves for the Canadians. The Canucks fired 45 at the hometown Slovak team.

Canada will now have a day off before playing the Czech Republic on Friday in a semi-final contest that will be played in Breclav, Czech Republic. The other semi-final matchup features the United States facing Sweden.

The Czech’s advanced today with a 3-2 win over Russia.

The gold medal game will be played on Saturday.
