TWO DOGS (SO FAR) GET CAMP INVITES

Stephen MacAulay and Steven Anthony are the first Saint John Sea Dogs to confirm invites to a National Hockey League Training Camp.

MacAulay, a St. Louis Blues prospect, has been invited to the teams main Training Camp. MacAulay joins Cody Beach as the only 2010 drafted players to be invited to the camp.

The Sea Dogs forward was selected by St. Louis in the sixth round, 164th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native played mostly on Saint John’s third and fourth line and recorded eight goals and 13 assists 56 regular season matches. In the post-season, MacAulay added another two goals and eight assists.

Other notables at Blues camp include Fredericton native Jake Allen, former World Junior stars Stefan Della Rovere and Alex Pietrangelo, and former Lewiston MAINEiac standout David Perron.

Blues camp opens on Friday morning at the St. Louis Mills. Opening day could be deadly.

“Players will skate from end to end and a "beep" will sound as they are expected to cross the blue line, red line and blue line,” writes Chris Pinkert in his Blues Training Camp blog. “The interverals at which it beeps will gradually get faster and faster each round until the guys can't skate anymore. You'll quickly find out which players have the most endurance, and those that don't will develop it quickly with these drills.”

Steven Anthony will be attending Vancouver Canucks main camp, according to the Sea Dogs’ official Twitter page.

Anthony, selected by Vancouver in the seventh round (187th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft has attended the Canucks rookie camp the past two seasons. Last year in Saint John, Anthony registered 18 goals and 23 assists in 61 regular season appearances.

The Halifax native has been blogging from Rookie Camp and recently posted a new entry.
