DOGS STILL RANKED NO. 1

The Saint John Sea Dogs’ dominating week has kept them ranked as the No. 1 team in the Canadian Hockey League. The latest edition of the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings were released this afternoon.

The Sea Dogs dominated their pair of games over the past week despite needing a shootout to pick up a victory in one. On Saturday, Jonathan Huberdeau put on a point clinic, leading Saint John to a 9-2 blowout win over the Halifax Mooseheads. Then last night, PEI Rocket goaltender Evan Mosher faced an insane 67 shots before the Sea Dogs were able to beat the hot goaltender in a shootout, winning the tilt 3-2.

Saint John remains atop the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 70 points on the year. They became the first team in the league to clinch a playoff spot with their victory last night.

Other QMJHL teams to crack the CHL’s Top 10 were the Quebec Remparts at No. 4, the Montreal Juniors at No. 5, and the streaking Gatineau Olympiques at No. 10. Gatineau is the hottest team in the QMJHL at the moment and are winners of nine straight.

Those honourably mentioned Voltigeurs play the Sea Dogs twice this weekend (Friday and Saturday) at Harbour Station in what should be a great back-to-back set for fans and scouts.
