ROUYN-NORANDA – After starting the season with 12 straight games on the road, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies finally play their home opener this evening. Well, sort of.

The Huskies host the Saint John Sea Dogs at 8:30pm tonight at the Jacques Laperriere Arena because the massive renovations the Iamgold Arena underwent during the off-season are not yet complete, forcing the team to hold all of their home games at the JLA this month.

Despite playing road games for an entire month, the Huskies are owners of a decent record. They are a respectable 5-6-1-0 and sit last in last place in the Telus West Division and 16^th overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Rouyn-Noranda is led by rookie imports Denis Kamaev and Sven Andrighetto who both sit in the top five of the rookie scoring race. Kamaev has three goals and 11 helpers while Andrighetto has seven markers and five assists.

The Huskies will be hosting a team that is coming off an ugly 5-1 loss in Gatineau on Wednesday night. The Sea Dogs did not play a good game, resulting in Head Coach Gerard Gallant critiquing his squad’s performance in the media.

"It was undisciplined, stupid play by us,'' Gallant told the Telegraph-Journal. "There was no work ethic and it was a case of us not showing up for another game on the road.''

"Hopefully the hangover is done,'' Gallant said. "I can live with that (7-0 loss in Victoriaville two weeks ago), but there are no excuses for what we did (Wednesday) night.''

Following Wednesday’s loss the Sea Dogs dropped to 7-5-0-0 on the season and now sit third in the Maritimes Division. This is the second of a three-game road trip for Saint John which ends tomorrow night in Val-d’Or.

NOTES: Danick Gauthier leads the Sea Dogs in scoring with seven goals and four assists for 11 points. Zack Phillips is second on the team in scoring with four goals and six assist for 10 points… Gauthier has a team leading seven goals. Phillips and Tomas Jurco are second with four each… Phillips has a team high six assists on the year. A bunch of players have four… Gauthier and Phillips both have two power play goals… Ryan Tesink and Scott Oke have scored Saint John’s lone shorthanded goals. They each have one… Oke is still a Sea Dogs best +8… Jason Seed is a Sea Dogs worst -6… Ian Saab has 39 penalty minutes in just five games to lead the team… Gauthier has taken a Sea Dogs high 29 shots. Nathan Beaulieu has 28… Gauthier is third the league in insurance goals with two… Saab’s 39 penalty minutes place him third in the league… Jonathan Huberdeau’s one shorthanded assist place him third in the league in the category… 2-4-0-0 on the road and have been outscored 31-14… the Sea Dogs’ power play is dead last in the league with a rating of 15.7%... Saint John’s penalty kill is 16^th in the Q and is operating at 70.3%.

IN NET: It will be interesting to see who gets the call between the pipes tonight. Mathieu Corbeil has started the last eight games which include Wednesday’s 5-1 loss in Gatineau. Corbeil has a record of 6-2-0-0 with a goals against average of 2.82 and a save percentage of 0.896.

Sebastien Auger has not started since September 18 against PEI. He has a record of 1-1 to along with a 5.50 GAA and a 0.843 save percentage.

SAAB SUSPENDED: Defenseman Ian Saab has been suspended one game by the QMJHL for his hit-from-behind on Gatineau’s Alexandros Soumakis on Wednesday. Saab was given a five-minute  major and tossed from the game for his actions.

OUT OF ACTION: Stanislav Galiev will miss tonight’s game because of a broken wrist. Devon Oliver-Dares has missed the last three games because of a sore back.

LAST GAME: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Olympiques. Tomas Jurco scored the lone Saint John goal while Mathieu Corbeil allowed five goals on 20 shots.

NOTES: Denis Kamaev leads the Huskies in scoring with three goals and 11 assists for 14 points. Sven Andrighetto and Jessyko Bernard are both second in points with 12 each… Andrighetto leads the squad in goals with seven. Jeremi Janneteau has six markers while Bernard and Antoine Quevillon each have five… Kamaev has a Rouyn-Noranda high 11 assists. The next highest total on the team is seven… Mathieu Brisebois is a team worst -9… Steven Mercier and Justin Guenette are both a team high +2 on the season… Quevillon is Rouyn-Noranda’s penalty minutes leader. He has 30 in 12 games… Andrighetto has a team high four power play goals. Bernard has three… Mathieu Lemay is third in the league in shorthanded goals with two… Marcus Power is tied for the league lead in shorthanded assists with two… 4-5-1-0 in their last 10 games and have lost two straight… the Huskies’ power play is ranked third in the league with a rating of 30.2%... their penalty kill is operating at 83.1% which is good for third in the league.

IN NET: Robin Gusse has played the most minutes in the Rouyn-Noranda net this season. He has a record of 4-3-0-0, a goals against average of 3.96 and a save percentage of 0.877.

ROSTER: The Huskies have a unique looking roster. They have two players who have France listed as their birthplace, two players from Ontario, one from Russia, one from Switzerland and one from Dalhousie, New Brunswick.

LAST GAME: Rouyn-Noranda is coming off a 5-2 loss in Gatineau last Sunday. Sven Andrighetto and Jeremi Janneteau each scored in the loss. Jeffrey Noonan made 28 stops in goal.
