POSTSCRIPT: Remparts 0, Sea Dogs 6

A collection of recaps from yesterday’s 6-0 Saint John Sea Dogs win over the Quebec Remparts…

Our recap. The Sea Dogs played one of their best games of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The Telegraph-Journal’s recap. "They were very dominant and by far the best team we've seen so far. I appreciate the way they move the puck down low, but I also like their intensity. They backcheck hard, they see the ice well and they're nice to watch.'' – Remparts head coach Patrick Roy.

The Journal de Quebec’s recap. Roy was disappointed in his team’s performance.

SaintJohnSeaDogs.com’s recap. Gauthier – who had a hat trick in Satuday’s win to bring his goals total to a career-best 14 – continued his hot play on Sunday.

SN Live Blog Replay. No clue how a three-on-none while shorthanded even happens.

SeaDogsTV Highlights:

OUT OF ACTION: Oliver Cooper received a one-game suspension for removing a player’s helmet during a fight on Saturday night against the PEI Rocket. Devon Oliver-Dares (personal reasons), Tyrone Sock (healthy) and Stanislav Galiev (broken wrist) were out of the lineup once again.

STREAKING: The Sea Dogs have now won five straight games, outscoring the opposition 34-8 over that span. It is the second time this season Saint John has won five straight. The longest winning streak in the league this season belongs to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar who won six straight.

3-IN-3: The Sea Dogs faced a tough challenge entering the weekend by having to play three games in as many days. But Saint John passed the test quite easily, winning all three contests and outscoring opponents 21-3.

JURCO: Tomas Jurco extended his point streak to eight games with a goal on Sunday. He has scored five goals and five assists over the eight contests.

GAUTHIER: Danick Gauthier just keeps on rolling. The Sea Dogs’ 20-year old forward netted his 15th and 16th goals on Sunday while playing in his 15th match of the season. In 153 career games prior to this season, Gauthier had scored a total of just 29 goals.

FIRST PERIOD: The Sea Dogs had another strong first period on Sunday afternoon. They outshot Quebec 19-5 in the opening frame after beating PEI 20-8 on shot clock in Saturday’s first period.

CORBEIL: After waiting 123 games to get his first regular season shutout, Mathieu Corbeil has recorded two straight. He got his first in a 5-0 win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Friday and kept his shutout streak going on Sunday in the 6-0 win. He made 22 stops in the win over the Remparts.

SUNDAY GAMES: Saint John has won every Sunday game they have played this season. They are 3-0 and have outscored opponents 17-5.

SPECIAL TEAMS: The Remparts entered the game with the league’s second best power play but they were unable to score on any of their four opportunities. Instead, it was Saint John who would capitalize on Quebec’s power play by scoring two shorthanded goals.

ROAD LOSS: The loss was Quebec’s first regulation road loss of the season. They also fell in overtime in Halifax on Saturday night.

NEXT GAME: The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles are in town next Friday. Game time is 7:30pm at Harbour Station.
