Our recap. Give credit to the Sags. This was their third
game in three days. They came to play and put in a strong effort. The Sea Dogs
didn’t do that.
The Telegraph-Journal’s recap. "There were five
players that showed up to play today,'' Saint John head coach Gerard Gallant
said. "I'm not going to name them, but the rest of the guys didn't show up
at all. It was just a total collapse. It was a bad performance from everybody
and hopefully they got it out of their system because it was embarrassing. We
got what we deserved.''

AOWELL.ca’s recap. The long bus ride back to Chicoutimi
will be a bit more enjoyable for the Sagueneens following Sunday’s performance.
SaintJohnSeaDogs.com’s recap. Etienne Brodeur had a hat
trick and added two assists for Chicoutimi, Charles Hudon scored twice and
Lukas Sedlak chipped in a goal and three assists. Dominic Poulin and Andrew
O’Brien added singles to round out the summary and former Sea Dog Gabriel
Bourret had three assists and a plus-6 rating. Christopher Gibson made 26 saves
for the win as Chicoutimi improved to 13-10-3-5.

MISSING IN ACTION: The Sea Dogs iced the same lineup on
Sunday as they did on Saturday against Shawinigan. Forwards Jonathan Huberdea
(foot), Stanislav Galiev (wrist) and Ryan Tesink (knee) as well as defenseman Jason
Seed (upper-body) all missed the contest.
According to News 88.9, Tesink had knee surgery on
Saturday and will be out four-to-six weeks. Tesink tweeted yesterday that “surgery
went very well! A big thanks to everyone for all the support!”
FIRST: The first period was a busy one as the teams
combined to score four goals and get 18 shots on net. The Sags had 10 shots in
the opening frame. On their October 29 visit to Saint John, they had a total of
14 shots in the game.
THIRD: The third period was just a complete disaster as
the Sags scored four goals on 15 shots. Not much else you can say about it.
PHILLIPS: Zack Phillips extended his point streak to 22
games as he assisted on Tomas Jurco’s first period goal. Over that span, the
Fredericton native has recorded 13 goals and 28 assists. He’s
heading to Team Canada’s selection camp this weekend.
HOME STREAK: The loss ended Saint John’s franchise record
home winning streak at 15 games. The loss was just the second at Harbour
Station this season for the Dogs. They fell 3-1 in their home opener way back
on September 8.
EX-DOGS: What a night it was for three former Sea Dogs.
After losing 6-0 in Saint John on October 29, the Sagueneens got their revenge
yesterday with a big win.
Defenseman Gabriel Bourret finished the game with three
assists and an impressive +6 rating. D-man Guillaume Cloutier finished the game
with a zero stat line. Lastly, forward Alexandre Beauregard had an assist, a +3
rating and a team-high five hits.
VS THE SAGS: The Sea Dogs are now 1-1-0-0 against
Chicoutimi this season. The Dogs have outscored them 9-8. Their next meeting is
March 9 in the Quebec city.
CORBEIL: Mathieu Corbeil was pulled at 8:50 of the second
period after allowing his fourth goal on 18 shots. His fourth goal was a weak
one as, after he went down to grab his goal stick, a point shot blew past him.
Sebastien Auger took over in goal - but didn’t a whole lot better. He allowed four goals on 20 shots.
It was a night to forget for Saint John’s goaltending
duo.
GIBSON PENALTY: Goaltender Christopher Gibson took a rare
penalty in the second period as he flipped the puck out of play. Etienne
Brodeur served the penalty but the Sea Dogs were unable to score.

Saab had nine penalty minutes in the game, pushing his
season total to 96.
BRODEUR: Etienne Brodeur went into beast mode in this
one, scoring three goals and setting up two others. He was also a +4 and had
eight shots in his first star performance. He was also named the Canadian
Hockey League first star of the night in Buzzing The Net’s three stars.
The former 53-goal scorer now has 11 goals in 27 games.
SEDLAK: Lukas Sedlak had a big game. He had a goal and
three assists in the win along with a +4 rating.
HIGHLIGHTS: Here are the highlights from SeaDogsTV.
QUICK HITS: Despite being -3, Charles-Olivier Roussel had
a pretty good game. He had a goal, an assist, three shots and a team high four hits… Tomas
Jurco had a pair of goals and a Sea Dogs high seven shots… Danick Gauthier and
Kevin Gagne were both a -4… Saint John now has a record of 1-6-0-0 when trailing entering
the third period… the Sea Dogs have now been outshot in nine of their 17 home
games this season.
