PREVIEW
SAINT JOHN – The Moncton Wildcats are in town this evening to take on the Saint John Sea Dogs in another instalment of the Brunswick News Rivalry Cup. Game time this evening is 7pm at Harbour Station. Upper bowl tickets can be purchased for just $10.

The Sea Dogs enter tonight’s game on a three-game winning streak and a 6-3-0-1 record in their last 10 games. Overall, Saint John has a record of 34-13-0-2 for 70 points and sit two points back of the Shawinigan Cataractes for first-place in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Cataractes, who beat the red hot Victoriaville Tigres 6-0 last night, don’t play until tomorrow.

At home this season, the Sea Dogs are 20-4-0-1 and have outscored opponents 115-64. They have the most home wins of any team in the league.

The Wildcats enter this evening’s game with a record of 22-20-3-2 for 49 points. They are fourth in the Maritimes Division and 11th overall in the league standings. The ‘Cats are 5-2-1-2 in their last 10 and are coming off a win.

Moncton is 8-14-0-2 on the road and have been outscored 94-61.

LAST GAMES
The Sea Dogs are coming off a 5-2 win over the Titan in Bathurst on Sunday afternoon. Zack Phillips had two goals while Charlie Coyle, Danick Gauthier, and Charles Roussel added singles. Sebastien Auger was solid in net, making 30 saves for the win.

Moncton’s last game was on Sunday in Cape Breton where they defeated the Screaming Eagles by score of 4-1. Allain and Alex Saulnier both scored twice. Marek Hrivik had three assists. Roman Will made 29 saves in net to earn the victory.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Saint John is 3-2-0-0 against the Wildcats this year while Moncton is 2-1-1-1 against the Sea Dogs. No matter how much better one team seems to be, these two always have an entertaining season series. 

Their last meeting came on January 2 at Harbour Station when the Sea Dogs needed a shootout to beat the Wildcats. Danny Chiasson scored the only goal for the Sea Dogs in regulation time while Pierre Durepos netted the shootout winner. Despite the low score, it was an entertaining contest.

LEADING SCORERS
Saint John continues to be led by Zack Phillips who has 64 points (25G, 39A) in 42 games this year. Danick Gauthier leads the Dogs in goal scoring with 35 while Phillips leads the way in assists with 39.

Moncton is led by Alex Saulnier who has 64 points (26G, 38A) in 41 games played. Alex leads the Wildcats in goals with 26 while he and his brother Allain are both tied for the team lead in assists with 38.
