REPORT: Villemaire Returns Home

SAINT JOHN – RDS is reporting some surprising news.

According to Stephane Leroux, newly acquired forward Maxime Villemaire has returned home to consider his future. He reports that Villemaire wants to focus on his studies and play ‘AAA’ hockey. The Saint John Sea Dogs acquired the 19-year old from the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Tuesday in exchange for a second- and sixth-round pick.

Villemaire made his Sea Dogs debut on Wednesday in a 3-2 win over the Gatineau Olympiques. He scored on his first shift and was named the game’s third star.

The Lasalle, Quebec native had eight goals and nine assists in 33 games with the Volts this season. He has 105 penalty minutes, good for fifth in the league. Last season, the six-foot-two, 219-pound forward had six goals and four assists in 57 games to go with 125 penalty minutes.

  1. This is disheartening to hear...Villemaire had a great debut and he provides the physical element we lost when Beauregard was shipped out...Lets hope he will reconsider and rejoin the team in time to make the impact that he displayed on Wednesday evening.

  2. Is RDS the same ones who reported last week that Gormely ha signed with the Seadogs when in fact he did not?
