Phillips Wins It In Double OT

SAINT JOHN – Zack Phillips ended a marathon on Friday night/Saturday morning at Harbour Station, scoring at 10:18 of the second overtime period to give the Sea Dogs a 3-2 win over the Rimouski Oceanic. The victory also gives Saint John a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-seven President’s Cup final.

The Sea Dogs scored twice in the opening 72 seconds of the game thanks to an unreal atmosphere at the Station. The Oceanic tied it with two power play goals in the second period.

Saint John didn’t play that great. They are not firing on all cylinders right now. They have some things to work on.

Game 2 is tonight at 7pm. No clue how long that one will last.

More of Friday’s game later.
