HF's Latest Organizational Rankings

Several members of the 2011-12 Saint John Sea Dogs could be playing for some solid National Hockey League teams in the near future.

Hockey’s Future has named the Florida Panthers’ prospect system the best in the NHL. Hockey’s Future determined the rankings by “taking each NHL team's entire prospect pool into consideration as well as the likelihood those prospects are to meet their maximum potential.”

Sea Dogs captain Jonathan Huberdeau, who will likely play with the Panthers next season unless the league is shutdown, was named Florida’s top prospect.

No. 2 on Hockey’s Future Organizational Rankings was the Minnesota Wild. Charlie Coyle and Zack Phillips are both in the top five Wild prospects list and are called “potential top-six forwards.”

No. 10 on the list is the Detroit Red Wings. HF lists Tomas Jurco as Detroit’s fourth best prospect.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are ranked 20^th. Former Sea Dogs defenseman Simon Despres, who played in 21 total games with Pittsburgh this season and will battle for a roster spot this fall, is ranked second among Pens prospects behind Portland Winterhawks defenseman Joe Morrow.

Nathan Beaulieu’s Montreal Canadiens are ranked 21^st, Eric Gelinas’ New Jersey Devils are 22^nd, and Stanislav Galiev’s Washington Capitals are 27^th.
