Former Sea Dogs defenseman Eric Gelinas is taking part in
New Jersey Devils rookie camp this week. The camp began on Monday.
“The objective of this is to give an orientation as to
what the philosophy is of the organization,” Devils’ President/CEO/GM Lou
Lamoriello told the Devils website. “We had a meeting last night and we talked
about a lot of things A to Z, as far as getting accustomed to the trainers,
getting accustomed to the locker room, getting accustomed to everything that we
do.”
The New York Post wrote yesterday that Gelinas was
standing out at the camp.
Gelinas had a good rookie season with the American Hockey
League’s Albany Devils, registering 16 goals and 21 assists in 75 games.
CAPITALS
Washington Capitals development camp ended on Saturday
with a scrimmage. Stanislav Galiev scored the opening goal of the
match. Team Red – Galiev’s team – would win 4-3 in overtime.

WILD
Minnesota Wild development camp came to an end on Sunday.
A scrimmage was held with Charlie Coyle on Team White and Zack Phillips on Team
Green. Team White won 6-5 at the Xcel Energy Center.
"Whenever you have guys like Granlund and Zucker on
one team and the other team beats us two nights, it just speaks to how much
talent there is in this organization," said Phillips.
“While it wasn't as good as Thursday's performance -
Phillips seemed to have some heavy legs - he had a solid effort setting up his
linemates,” writes Nathan Wells of First Round Bust. “There was a little more
stickhandling and Zack was looking to be a playmaker (honestly I'm not sure if
that's an extension of this being an exhibition scrimmage or if Phillips is
looking at that more) and it didn't click all the way.”
“On Thursday, I came away unimpressed with Coyle despite
the 28th overall pick in 2010 scoring a goal and assisting on another,” Wells
added. “That wasn't the case Sunday. Charlie had his moments in the second
scrimmage and what really impressed me was the improvement from the things I
thought he struggled with on Thursday.”

PENGUINS
Pittsburgh Penguins development camp ended on Saturday
with a scrimmage at CONSOL Energy Center.
“It was a great way to end the week,” former Sea Dog
Simon Despres told the Penguins website. “We had a nice game and everyone
played hard. It’s fun to have a lot of fans. The fans were incredible to come
and see us prospects.”
