MISSING IN ACTION: Defensemen Pierre Durepos (hip) and David Weckworth (knees) and forwards Matthew Highmore (shoulder), Spencer Smallman (shoulder), and Mackenzie Brown (knee) were all out of the Sea Dogs lineup on Friday night. Andreas Tsogkas also did not play.

According to News 88.9, Brown is expected to miss several weeks with a knee injury.

FIGHTS: It was quite a debut for Marcus Cuomo and Michael Mastrangelo.

Mastrangelo came to the defense of Noah Zilbert after he got hit hard only to have two Titan players try and fight free agent signee. Meanwhile, Cuomo and Etienne Salvail dropped the gloves in front of the penalty boxes. Cuomo was given a game misconduct for “fighting after the original altercation” and Mastrangelo a misconduct for being an instigator. All of this came at 12:02 of the first period.

Sea Dogs equipment manager David Kelly tweeted this picture of Cuomo’s jersey after the game.
Video of the fights should be available shortly.

2nd PERIOD: Despite taking a bunch of penalties in the first half of the second period, the Sea Dogs rebounded well in the second half. They got a lot of momentum after Kevin Gagne tied it up at 2-2 and they outshoot the Titan 13-10 in the 20-minute frame.

GIRARD: Sean Girard was given a five-minute major and game misconduct after checking Ryan Tesink in the head at the end of the second period. Tesink was down on the ice for a few moments before skating off the ice on his own.

With the game tied at 2-2, the Sea Dogs had a glorious opportunity to take the lead but could not connect of the power play.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Saint John’s power play is off to a rough start this season. They went 0-for-8 on Friday night and 1-for-6 on Thursday.

Luckily, the Sea Dogs’ penalty kill was good last night, keeping the Titan scoreless on six opportunities.

HUBERDEAU: Jonathan Huberdeau scored his first goal of the season at 19:36 of the first. It wasn’t his prettiest goal ever as jammed the puck past Titan goaltender Jacob Brennan who was parked on the goal line.

Huberdeau also registered an assist on Kevin Gagne’s game-tying goal along with six shots and a +2 rating.

LEBLANC: First round pick Olivier Leblanc recorded the first point of his QMJHL career last night. It was a big one too as he helped setup Oliver Cooper’s overtime goal. The rookie defenseman is the first Sea Dog this season to record a point that didn’t play for the club last year.

GOALIES: Good game for both netminders last night. Sebastien Auger has been solid so far this season/pre-season. He made 29 saves for the win last night which included a some big stops late in the third.

Meanwhile, Jacob Brennan made 34 saves in the loss for Bathurst.

CLOCK: Bathurst's score clock could use some work. Pretty sure "Reset" and "1997" shouldn't be there.
NOTES: There was a big time pre-game ceremony to honour the Titan’s 15th season in Bathurst… solid crowd of 2,567 was on hand for the Titan’s home opener… Oliver Leblanc and Ryan Tesink were both a +3… Stephen MacAulay registered a team high seven shots… Devon Oliver-Dares and Aidan Kelly each had three hits… MacAulay had two assists… Zach O’Brien recorded two assists… Brandon Hynes had seven shots… Sean Girard had four hits.
