Sagueneens.com’s recap. And so ends Chicoutimi’s road trip.

MISSING IN ACTION: The Sea Dogs were without Benjamin Hade, Matthew Highmore, Spencer Smallman, Ryan Tesink, Mackenzie Brown, Pierre Durepos, and Stephen Anderson on Sunday afternoon.

Stephen Anderson missed the game with an “upper body injury" according to News 88.9.

Ryan Tesink served the final game of the two-game suspension he received for cross-checking last weekend in Baie-Comeau.

SEED: Sea Dogs defenseman Jason Seed netted his second goal of the season and his second ever regular season goal as a Sea Dog at 5:35 of the second period on the power play to give Saint John a 1-0 lead.

CUOMO: Marcus Cuomo picked a great time to score his first QMJHL goal, tying the game at 2-2 with 9.4 seconds left in regulation. Cuomo was certainly deserving of the goal as he has been consistently working hard all season. He now has a goal and two assists in 14 games.

Here’s his post-game interview with SeaDogsTV.

COOPER: Oliver Cooper scored the overtime winning at 1:56 of the extra frame. It was his second OT goal of the season as he netted the game-winner against Bathurst back in September. The Fredericton native now has four goals and three assists in 15 games.

CLOUTIER: Former Sea Dogs defenseman Guillaume Cloutier was held pointless on Sunday. He was a -1, had one shot, two hits, and served a slashing penalty in the second period.

OVERTIME: The Sea Dogs are certainly liking extra time this season. Sunday saw the team head to overtime for a fifth time this season and they improved to a perfect 5-0 in those games. Three of the wins have come in overtime while the two others came in a shootout.

VS SAGS: This was the final regular season matchup between the Sea Dogs and Sagueneens. Saint John finishes the season with a 2-0-0-0 record with both of those wins coming in extra time – one in overtime and the other in a shootout.

ROAD TRIP: This game ended a tough road trip for the Sagueneens. They went 0-2-1-0 on their three-game trip which featured stops in Charlottetown, Halifax, and Saint John. Sunday’s game was the only contest where they picked up a point.

REGULATION: The Sea Dogs still don’t have a win in regulation time this month. In October, all four of their wins came in extra time – two in a shootout and two in overtime. Their last win in regulation came on September 30. The Dogs have one more game this month and that is Wednesday’s contest against the Armada.

CROWD: A light crowd of 3,128 was on hand for Sunday’s contest at Harbour Station. It was the second smallest crowd of the season in Saint John.
MASCOT NIGHT: It was mascot night at Harbour Station as a number of mascots from local businesses were in attendance. They scrimmaged during the second intermission. The St-Hubert chicken guy really stood out with his performance all game long. Foreman George and the UNBSJ mascot had a short fight.

RECORD: The Sea Dogs are finally back over the .500 mark with yesterday’s win. They now sit fourth in the division and 11th overall in the league with a 8-7-0-0 record.

NOTES: Chicoutimi star forward Charles Hudon did not play once again due to a concussion… there were a couple guys from Fox Sports Florida in attendance again… Jakub Izacky’s three-game goal streak came to an end… Kevin Gagne took two really hard, awkward looking hits but was okay after both… Laurent Dauphin had six shots for Chicoutimi… Simon Tremblay had three hits… the Sags recorded just 16 shots on goal. They had 17 on Saturday in Halifax… Gagne had two assists to give him 12 points this season… Ryan Kelly, Gagne, and Michael Mastrangelo were the only Sea Dogs without shots… unlimited penalties in the second period.
