Our recap. It was one last game of a three game road trip
for the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday afternoon as they battled the Drakkar
in Baie-Comeau at Centre Henry-Leonard.

the Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the visiting Saint John Sea Dogs 6-2 on
Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

SaintJohnSeaDogs.com’s recap. The Sea Dogs played their
final game of a three game Quebec swing Saturday night, dropping a 6-2 decision
to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
MISSING IN ACTION: Steven Duda (healthy), Andreas Tsogkas
(healthy), Benjamin Hade (upper body), Pierre Durepos (hip), Mackenzie Brown
(knee), Matthew Highmore (shoulder), and Spencer Smallman (shoulder) did not
play for Saint John.
ROAD TRIP: Saint John’s three-game trip through Quebec
finishes with a 1-2-0 record. Despite the losing record and some lopsided
scores, the Sea Dogs played pretty well considering the opponents. Both of
their loses were really not decided until the final few minutes.
Saint John fell to 3-4-0-0 on the road this year with the
loss.
IZACKY: Jakub Izacky scored his second of the season and
second of this road trip to open the scoring at 7:50 of the first. Marcus Cuomo
got the puck on net and Izacky managed to put it in. It appears his scoring
success has given him a bit of confidence as he put four shots on net Saturday.
The import forward now has two goals and two assists in 11 games this season.
FOURNIER: Goaltender Alex Fournier made his second start
in the Saint John net on Saturday. It was definitely his best start, making 24
saves in the loss. There wasn’t much he could do on some of the goals he
allowed. Fournier is now 0-2-0-0 with a 8.50 GAA and 0.754 SV%.
HUBERDEAU: Jonathan Huberdeau had a great chance to open
the scoring early on while shorthanded but Drakkar goaltender Philippe
Cadorette made a glove save to keep it scoreless. The Sea Dogs captain was held
pointless but he did register a team high five shots.
GAGNE: Kevin Gagne is having a solid season offensively.
His assist on Jakub Izacky’s first period goal gives him nine points (one goal
and eight assists) in nine games this year. The 20-year old defenseman has been
held off the score sheet in just two games this year. He had 35 points in 68
games last year.
BOUDREAU: Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau, who was the 10th
overall pick in June’s QMJHL Entry Draft, is off to a hot start with the
Drakkar. With his goal and two assists on Saturday, Boudreau now has five goals
and eight helpers in 12 games which places him fourth in rookie scoring.
TESINK: Ryan Tesink helped and hurt his team on Saturday.
Tesink got the Sea Dogs within one at 7:15 of the third, scoring his fifth of the
season. Then at 18:25, the St. Louis Blues prospect picked up a match penalty
and five-minute major for cross-checking. The Drakkar scored twice on the man
advantage, ending any chance of a Saint John comeback.
RECORD: The Sea Dogs dipped back below the .500 mark with
the loss. The Sea Dogs now sit 12th overall in the league with a
6-7-0-0 record.
NOTES: No crab was thrown on the ice before the game… Marcus
Cuomo recorded his second assist/point of the season… Devon Oliver-Dares, Jason
Cameron, and Aidan Kelly were each a -3… Petr Straka had seven shots for
Baie-Comeau… Carl Gelinas had four hits… Sea Dogs return to Quebec on November
9th. They travel to Sherbrooke for the first time.
