Our recap. The Saint John Sea Dogs travelled to the K.C.
Irving Centre on Sunday afternoon to take on the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

from a 2-0 deficit to hand the Acadie-Bathurst Titan their fifth straight loss
in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action in front of 1,081 fans at the K.C.

(11-12-0) handed the Titan (9-13-4) their fifth loss in a row.

against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in front of 1,081 fans at the KC Irving
Regional Centre.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without Benjamin Hade,
Matthew Highmore, Mackenzie Brown, Pierre Durepos, Spencer Smallman, Jurij Repe,
and Andreas Tsogkas on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Mastrangelo returned to the Saint John lineup
after serving a two-game suspension.
FIRST PERIOD: The first period was a fairly evenly played
frame with shots ending 11-10 in favour of Bathurst. Saint John had a few good
scoring chances and two power plays but could not cash in. Brandon Hynes had
the only goal in the period, giving the Titan a 1-0 advantage.
SECOND PERIOD: The second period brought us an entirely
new game. After the Titan scored to go up 2-0, the Sea Dogs climbed back and
tied the game 2-2 thanks to a pair of goals from Ryan Tesink. Shots were 10-9
Titan in the second.
TESINK: Big time game for Tesink yesterday. The Sea
Dogs forward recorded a hat trick, four shots on goal, and a +2 rating in the win. News
88.9 reports that it was his first career QMJHL hat trick. Tesink now has 14
goals on the season which surpasses Jonathan Huberdeau for the team lead. The
St. Louis Blues prospect has 25 points in 21 games this year.
THIRD PERIOD: The TSN Turning Point came at 13:09 of the third period when
Sean Girard got his stick into the grill of Noah Zilbert. That gave Saint John
a four-minute power play. On that man advantage, Jakub Izacky scored what would
be the game-winner. Tesink added an empty netter in the final seconds of the
game to ice the win.
WECKWORTH: Defenseman David Weckworth registered his
point as a Sea Dog on Sunday, helping setup Jakub Izacky’s third period goal.
Weckworth, playing in his first season with Saint John after being acquired at
the draft, has an assist in 14 games this season.
HUBERDEAU: Jonathan Huberdeau’s two helpers gives him 143
in his Sea Dog career which ties him with Michael Kirkpatrick for the club
record. The Sea Dogs captain now has 12 goals and 19 assists in 23 games this season.
ATTENDANCE: Only 1,081 attended the game. Bathurst is
averaging 1,489 fans per game this season, the lowest mark in the league. They have
had crowds over 2,000 just twice all year. It would be awful to see them move,
but you have to wonder how much longer they can survive like this.
ROAD: Saint John ended a stretch of five straight road
games yesterday. They went 2-3-0-0 during the span, which is pretty good
considering the beat down they got twice in Quebec. Overall, the Sea Dogs are
now 6-7-0-0 away from Harbour Station and have been outscored 59-41.
STREAKS: Saint John ended their three-game losing streak
yesterday while Bathurst’s slide hit five straight loses. These are rough times
for Bathurst.
STANDINGS: With the win, the Sea Dogs jump ahead of the
Titan in the standings. Saint John is now 11-12-0-0 for 22 points while
Bathurst is 9-13-4-0 for 22 points. The Dogs sit fourth in the division and 13th
overall in the league while the Titan are fifth in the Maritimes and 14th
overall.
NOTES: The Sea Dogs finally return home for a pair of
games next weekend… these two clash again on December 20 at Harbour Station… Mike
Kelly was back behind the Saint John bench after missing Friday’s game due to a
scouting adventure… Jason Seed had two assists… Olivier LeBlanc had a team high
five shots… Stephen Anderson had four hits and, despite not getting on the score
sheet, was named third star… Brandon Hynes had six shots… Sean Girard had three
hits… the Sea Dogs improved to 7-2-0-0 in games that are tied after two periods.
