SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without Mackenzie Brown (knee), Benjamin Hade (upper body), Michael Mastrangelo (suspension/upper body), Jurij Repe (upper body), Jason Seed (healthy), Devon Oliver-Dares (personal reasons) and Spencer Smallman (healthy) on Wednesday night.

FIRST: The Sea Dogs had a pretty solid first period while playing in hostile territory. They had a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes and had numerous other scoring opportunities they could not connect on. Matthew Highmore and Jonathan Huberdeau both had glorious chances but didn’t score. Shots were 11-8 Sea Dogs.

TESINK: Ryan Tesink continues to pile up points this season. The St. Louis Blues prospect recorded a goal and two assists last night to give him 30 points in 24 games this season. He continues to lead the team in goal scoring with 16 on the year.

HUBERDEAU: Jonathan Huberdeau tied some history last night. The Sea Dogs captain recorded a goal and two assists to give him 251 career points, tying Michael Kirkpatrick for the most all-time as a Sea Dog. Huberdeau now has 14 goals and 25 assists on the season, including 10 points in his past four games.

HIGHMORE: Matthew Highmore looked good last night and had a few scoring chances. Highmore finished the game with one shot, a +1 rating, and went 3/9 on faceoffs. Hopefully he continues to get more comfortable as time goes on.

GAGNE: Kevin Gagne was in beast mode last night, registering two goals, two assists, and a team high eight shots on net. The 20-year old defenseman, who had 35 points all of last season, already has six goals and 18 assists in 22 games this year.

AUGER: Really solid game for goaltender Sebastien Auger. He only had to make 24 saves, but he was making some quality stops all game. Auger improved to 14-9-0-0 on the year with a 3.02 goals against average and a 0.905 save percentage.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Special teams played a role in last night’s game. Saint John went 2-for-5 on the power play while Rouyn-Noranda went 1-for-6. The Huskies power play is the fifth best in the league.

GOALTENDING: The Huskies pulled goaltender Robin Gusse in the third period after Stephen Anderson scored at 1:51 of the third. He allowed four goals on 20 shots. Alexandre Belanger took over in relief, allowing a goal on nine shots.

STREAKS: With the win, Saint John extended their winning streak to four games. That’s cool. Rouyn-Noranda’s loss ended their three-game victory streak.
