Our recap. The Saint John Sea Dogs took on the
Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Thursday night at Harbour Station.

Brennan stopped 29 saves for the shutout to help Acadie-Bathurst (13-19-5) beat
the Sea Dogs (16-18-0) despite a 42-save performance from Saint John goaltender
Sebastien Auger.
SaintJohnSeaDogs.com’s recap. The Saint John Sea Dogs and
Acadie-Bathurst Titan met for the third time in Thursday night’s Quebec Major
Junior Hockey League action. The Sea Dogs were defeated 3-0 by Bathurst with
2,892 fans present at Harbour Station.
SCRATCHES: Benjamin Hade, Jason Seed, Jonathan Huberdeau,
Devon Oliver-Dares, Michael Mastrangelo, Jurij Repe, Justin Dickinson, and
Jakub Izacky did not play for Saint John on Thursday night.
Izacky and Dickinson were both injured on Sunday in
Charlottetown.
Huberdeau served the final game of his four-game
suspension. He is now eligible for world junior play.
SECOND: Bathurst scored twice in the second – once on the
power play and once while shorthanded. Shots were 11-11 but the Sea Dogs still didn't look great offensively.
O’BRIEN: Bathurst star Zach O’Brien scored his 23rd
of the season at 11:16 of the second while shorthanded. O’Brien, who had 101
points last season, now has 23 goals and 25 assists in 35 games this year.
SHORTHANDED: O’Brien’s goal was Bathurst’s fifth
shorthanded goal of the season. They were playing in their 37th game. The Sea Dogs have allowed seven shorthanded goals this season.
THIRD: Matthew Bissonnette put it away at 8:56 of the
third period during some four-on-four play, making it 3-0. Bathurst outshot
Saint John 16-10 in the frame.
AUGER: Sebastien Auger was his usual self in net. The score
could have been much worse if not for his performance. The Saint John
goaltender made 42 saves in the loss. He is now 16-13-0-0 with a 2.97 GAA and
0.908 SV%. He was named third star.
PENALTY KILL: The Titan entered the game with the worst
penalty kill in the QMJHL with a rating of 72.8%. Saint John had four power
plays but couldn’t score on any of them.
Meanwhile, the Sea Dogs took 11 minor penalties and gave
Bathurst nine power play opportunities. Fortunately for Saint John, Bathurst
was able to score just once on the man advantage.
ATTENDANCE: There was another light crowd on hand on
Thursday night. Only 2,892 watched the Sea Dogs battle the Titan. It was the
third time this season and the second straight game that Saint John had under 3,000
fans for a game. Last night’s crowd was their third smallest of the season.
VS TITAN: The Sea Dogs are now 2-2-0-0 against the Titan
this season while Bathurst is 2-1-1-0 against Saint John.
STREAK: This game ended a three-game losing streak for Bathurst.
It was their first victory since a 7-6 overtime win over the Halifax
Mooseheads on December 8.
STANDINGS: The Sea Dogs are officially halfway through
their 2012-13 QMJHL schedule. They sit two games below the .500 mark with a 16-18-0-0
record. They remain fourth in the Telus Maritimes Division and 13th
overall in the league.
NOTES: A video of the Sea Dogs singing the end of
Christmas carol was shown during the first period… Matthew Highmore left the
game for a short time in the third period with Jeff Kelly but did return… Zach
O’Brien and Matthew Bissonnette each had six shots… Alexandre Gosselin and Sean
Girard each had three hits… Jason Cameron and Stephen Anderson had five shots...
according to News 88.9’s Tim Roszell, the Sea Dogs hadn’t been shutout on home
ice since 2007... boring game.
