Huberdeau Remains A Sea Dog

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League trading period has come and gone and Jonathan Huberdeau remains a Saint John Sea Dog.

The Sea Dogs either opted not to trade Huberdeau’s QMJHL rights or were unable to move them in a conditional deal. Either way, the Saint John captain will remain Dogs property although it’s unlikely he will return.

If the NHL had cancelled their season, the Sea Dogs would have gotten a massive return in a trade (have you seen what the Wildcats paid for Phillip Danault?). It’s a hard to pill to swallow knowing what a huge return the Dogs would have gotten, but, if the NHL hadn’t had that stupid lockout in the first place, we wouldn’t even be talking about this.

Florida Panthers camp is expected to start sometime this weekend or something. Season is expected to start January 19. Will be interesting to see how this goes.
