Wednesday Huberdeau Links

What the title says…

Jonathan Huberdeau’s QMJHL rights were not traded yesterday. La Presse reports that the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada did try to acquire the rights to the Florida Panthers prospect.

Sportsnet’s Patrick King tweeted this today:

According to TSN, the usual 10-game rule will be reduced to six-games this season due to the shorter season, meaning a junior player can play in five games before his entry level contract kicks in.

“According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, the league is expected to adopt a six-game rule for the lockout-shortened season,” states TSN.ca. “At that point, teams could send the player back to junior without using up the first year of their entry level contract.”

Panthers head coach Kevin Dineen spoke to the Sun Sentinel about Huberdeau today.

“Dineen also said that he doesn’t believe the short training camp will hurt the progression of 2011 third overall pick Jonathan Huberdeau, 20, who is making the leap from juniors to the NHL, because of his high maturity level,” writes Harvey Fialkov (Ed. Note: Huberdeau turns 20 in June).

And NHL.com lists Huberdeau as one of the few junior players who could make the jump to The Show this year.
