11:06 – a highlight video of the 2012-13 season is played

11:08 – QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau hits the stage to some unreal music

11:10 – The Screaming Eagles people take the stage.

11:11 – Cape Breton selects Nicolas Roy first overall. Techno music is played. He is in attendance and takes the stage as expected. He puts on a Screaming Eagles jersey for quite possibly the only time in his life.

11:15 – the Shawinigan Cataractes are on stage. They select Anthony Beauvillier second overall, choosing him over Jeremy Roy. Beauvillier was ranked fourth by QMJHL Central Scouting.

11:19 – the Sea Dogs brass takes the stage. Wayne Long announces they select Nathan Noel from Shattuck St. Mary’s to the surprise of nobody.

11:24 – the Sherbrooke Phoenix select Jeremy Roy. He is the first defenseman taken. The top four has gone as planned.

11:27 – the Titan hit the stage with Sean Couturier. Very cool. They select defenseman Guillaume Brisebois who was ranked 10^th by Central Scouting.

11:32 – WE HAVE A TRADE. Val-d’Or is now picking sixth overall. Gatineau gets the Foreurs’ 9^th and 10^th overall picks. Bold move.

11:36 – The Foreurs select power forward Julien Gauthier. He was ranked ninth by Central Scouting.

11:40 – the hometown Sagueneens take the stage to pick forward Jeremy Bouchard seventh overall. He was ranked 12^th by Central Scouting. More AC/DC is played.

11:41 – still no shocking picks. Things are running smoothly.

11:43 – Bathurst is up again! But no! We have a trade! No idea what is happening.

11:53: Big trade took place. Val-d’Or is now up, picking eighth overall. As expected, the Foreurs take David Henley to join the rest of the Henleys. Henley was ranked eighth by Central Scouting and 20^th by HockeyProspect.com.

11:57 – Gatineau is finally picking. They select forward Alexandre Alain ninth overall. They either forgot his last name when announcing on stage or paused for dramatic effect. He was ranked 11 by Central Scouting.

12:00 – Gatineau is up again! They left the stage and everything the first time so they come back up and do it all over again. The ‘Piques take Alex Dostie 10^th overall. He was ranked 19^th by Central Scouting and 28^th by HockeyProspect.com. Bit of a surprising pick.

12:04 – Drummondville is up. They make a bold pick, selecting American forward Cameron Askew 11^th overall. He is indeed at the draft and takes the stage. Opinions are varied on him and it’ll be interesting to see how this works out.

12:12 – Another trade!

12:13 – So Cape Breton now owns the 12^th overall pick and the Huskies get the 20th overall in ‘13 and  1st round pick in ‘14 . They select defenseman Jason Bell, ranked fifth by Central Scouting.

12:18 – And here come the Charlottetown Islanders. They select Daniel Sprong 13^th overall. He’s been labelled a “boom or bust” type player. He is not in attendance but will report. Their jersey... yeah.

12:22 – the Titan are up yet again after moving up to No. 14. They take forward Christophe Boivin.

12:26 – this tweet.

Have been told from mult. people that both Saint John and Drummondville were talking with Askew, and if he was drafted, would likely sign.

12:27: The good old Baie-Comeau Drakkar are up. They take defenseman Nicolas Meloche 15^th overall. He was ranked way up at No. 7 by Central Scouting.

12:31 – it’s been a while since the Foreurs have picked, so they come up to select at No. 16. They take defenseman Olivier Galipeau. Was ranked 18^th by Central Scouting.

12:33 – the Sea Dogs are on deck and they have some options. Thomas Chabot? Will Thompson? NOAH HANIFIN?

12:36 – the Sea Dogs select Rothesay Netherwood defenseman Will Thompson 17^th overall. He’s the first New Brunswicker taken.

12:39 – Chicoutimi is up again. They take defenseman Frederic Allard 18^th overall. He was ranked 17^th by Central Scouting.

12:45 - Another trade goes down. Last pick of the first round coming up – which Charlottetown has acquired.

12:49 – the Islanders are finally ready to select. They pick forward Alexandre Goulet who was ranked 22^nd by Central Scouting.

12:52 – and so ends the first round.
