QMJHL Entry Draft Is A Week Away

The 2013 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft is a week away.

With the Ryan Tesink trade saga now over and the Sea Dogs losing no picks, we can start looking ahead to the draft. This should be a fun one for Saint John fans as the Dogs have three picks in the top 22 selections.

Saint John’s top selection, 3rd overall, is their own pick that was reacquired in the Tesink trade. The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles will select first overall and the Shawinigan Cataractes second.

The Dogs will also be picking 17th overall, a pick they acquired in the Kevin Gagne deal. It’ll be the second straight year that the Port City squad has two picks in the opening round. They selected Matthew Highmore and Olivier LeBlanc last year.

Now, the QMJHL website has their full draft order up but we are not sure how updated that list is. Below is where Jerome Berube of HockeyProspect.com has Saint John picking:
Round 1 – 3rd overall
Round 1 – 17th overall
Round 2 – 22nd overall
Round 3 – 40th overall
Round 4 – 58th overall
Round 4 – 73rd overall
Round 6 – 107th overall
Round 7 – 112th overall
Round 8 – 130th overall
Round 8 – 133rd overall
Round 9 – 148th overall
Round 10 – 166th overall
Round 11 – 184th overall
Round 12 – 202nd overall
Round 13 – 220th overall
Round 14 – 238th overall

So there you go. We'll see which list is more accurate as the week moves along.
