Bent Officially A Sea Dog; Gravel Traded

Kelly Bent is officially a Saint John Sea Dog.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League made the transaction official on their website this morning. In exchange, Saint John sent a 2015 eighth-round pick to the Gatineau Olympiques.

"Kelly provides some sand paper to our line up," said Sea Dogs head coach and general manager Mike Kelly in a news release. "He is a passionate player who plays with energy and makes it difficult on opposing players. We believe he will be a good compliment to our skilled players and be a good addition in the room."

Bent has one goal, three assists, and 92 penalty minutes in 47 career QMJHL games with the Olympiques and PEI Rocket. He also has 12 career fights, according to HockeyFights.com.

The 18-year old forward is listed at 6’0” and 192 lbs.

Saint John's next pre-season game is this Saturday at Harbour Station against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

A number of other trades have been announced around the league over the past 24 hours. One of the biggest involved Maxime Gravel, the defenseman who the Sea Dogs selected in third-round of the 2011 QMJHL Draft but never reported. The Dogs traded him to Rimouski in December of 2011 and today he was dealt by the Oceanic to the Val-d’Or Foreurs in exchange for 2014 first (Halifax) and second and a 2015 sixth.
