News & Notes From Saturday's Game

Some stuff from last night’s game…

• Nathan Noel retook the team’s goal scoring lead by netting his 10^th of the year in the first period. Noel, who also had an assist in this game, is having a solid rookie campaign and sits third in team scoring with 21 points.
• Sebastien Auger was interfered with on Jean-Sebastien Dea’s first period goal. But it was a Saint John player who pushed a Rouyn-Noranda player into the netminder.
• Oliver Cooper took a double minor for high sticking 20 seconds into the second period. It proved costly as Rouyn-Noranda scored twice on the man advantage. Cooper made up for the penalty by scoring at 4:56.
• Noah Zilbert got Saint John within one at 12:05 of the third. The Dogs created some solid chances to tie the game but could not. 
• Dillon Fournier's empty net goal came with .9 seconds remaining in the game. They did not even drop the puck for one last faceoff. 
• With two goals in this game, Dea now has 24 in 27 games. He is just three goals back of league leader Anthony Mantha. Dea has a weird looking stat line going on with 24 goals but just four assists.
• With three assists, Marcus Power now sits third in league scoring with 46 points.
• Rouyn-Noranda’s power play was working well on Saturday and finished the game 3-for-4. Meanwhile, the Sea Dogs went 0-for-4.
• Another 40+ shot night for Sebastien Auger. He’s really good.
• Steven Veilleux made his Huskies debut, making 26 saves in the win.
• Saint John fell to 3-5-0-2 when scoring first.
• This was the final game of a three-in-three road trip through the Maritimes for the Huskies and they picked up five of a possible six points. Their only loss came in a shootout in Bathurst on Thursday.
• Sea Dogs scratches were forwards Samuel Dove-McFalls (upper body) and Joey Richard (healthy) along with defensemen Thomas Chabot (healthy) and Jurij Repe (healthy). Repe is a 19-year old import d-man in his second year with the club.

NOTES: Dea had seven shots… Justin Guenette had three hits… Olivier LeBlanc had four shots… David Weckworth had three hits… Saint John won 36 of 66 faceoffs… Kelly Bent had his fourth fight of the year.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs host the Victoriaville Tigres on Friday night at 7:30pm. The annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place at that game.
