The GM Application Deadline Is Here

Today is the final day to submit applications for the Saint John Sea Dogs’ general manager position.

The team announced on December 16th that team president Wayne Long would be accepting applications up until today. It’s unconventional for a junior team to search for a GM so publicly - but it seems to have worked.

Long told the Telegraph-Journal that “three or four strong, NHL-calibre candidates have expressed interest” and that he would like to have someone hired “at the very latest, by the end of February.” Go check out that full article in the T-J so we don’t feel so guilty about putting those quotes on here.

Once a GM is hired, he and team management will presumably evaluate the hockey operations staff. The Sea Dogs coaching staff, led by Ross Yates, has certainly turned things around in the past month. Heading into action tonight, Saint John is 5-4-1-0 in their past 10 games and have been playing some of their best hockey of the season.

The Dogs will likely have another long off-season and plenty of time to prepare for the QMJHL Entry Draft in June. This year’s draft should be fun.
