$8 Tickets Available; Skates Wanted

The Sea Dogs have just two regular season home games remaining on their 2013-14 schedule. Saint John takes on the Moncton Wildcats tomorrow night at Harbour Station before hosting the Halifax Mooseheads on Saturday.

Students can purchase $8 upper bowl tickets for tomorrow’s game. They can be purchased through the Harbour Station box office. Orders completed in person, online or by telephone must be claimed by persons showing proper student identification.

Also tomorrow, FedEx Express and the Sea Dogs will be collecting new and used hockey skates and equipment in support of Skate to Great, which provides equipment to children in need and at-risk youth. All donations will be made to local non-profit program, P.R.O. Kids.

Fans are asked to drop off donations at the main doors of Harbour Station for the chance to win an autographed Saint John Sea Dogs jersey.

• The Charlottetown Islanders edged the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 3-1 tonight. The Islanders are now 14^th with 47 points, the Titan are 15^th with 46 points, and the Shawinigan Cataractes are 16^th with 44 points. The Sea Dogs are 17^th with 43 points and have a game in-hand on the Isles and two on the Titan.
• The Chronicle Herald’s Willy Palov had some good things to say about new Sea Dogs GM Darrell Young last week.
• The QMJHL website has an article on Young. “He’s here to build a championship team and he was pretty straightforward about that,” Oliver Cooper said.
• Former Panthers coach/Canadian hero Kevin Dineen on the Fan 590 this evening: “Huberdeau has taken a step back this year.”
• It looks like St. Stephen will have a Junior A team beginning next season. According to multiple media reports, the MHL Board of Governors voted to accept the Charlotte County bid for entry this past weekend. They will play at the new Garcelon Civic Centre located on the St. Stephen waterfront.
