Report: Hebert Heading To Remparts

According to Kathleen Lavoie of Le Soleil, the Quebec Remparts will acquire Nicolas Hebert from the Saint John Sea Dogs in exchange for a 2017 fifth-round pick.

The Sea Dogs acquired Hebert from the Rimouski Oceanic this past December in exchange for a 2014 fifth-round draft pick. The 18-year old centre registered six goals and four assists in 33 games with Saint John in the second-half which was more points than he had in his entire career in Rimouski.

Hebert was selected 12th overall in the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft but could never consistently produce offensively. In his rookie campaign, the Longueuil native had two goals and two assists in 54 contests. In 35 first-half games last year he recorded two goals and an assist.

This deal is certainly good for Hebert who will head to the team hosting the 2015 Memorial Cup.

The QMJHL trade period opens on Friday, May 30th – the day before the 2014 Entry Draft in Sherbrooke. Sea Dogs general  manager Darrell Young told the Telegraph-Journal this week that the team already has two deals made, one to do with acquiring assets while the other is about acquiring leadership.
