Reports: Sea Dogs To Acquire Mark Tremaine

According to multiple media people on Twitter and La Nouvelle Union, the Sea Dogs will acquire overage forward Mark Tremaine from the Victoriaville Tigres when the trading period opens in a few weeks. What’s heading to Victoriaville hasn’t been reported yet but multiple sources say it is a seventh-round pick.

Tremaine, a 6'00” and 190 lbs centre from Dartmouth, has recorded 12 goals and 48 assists in 166 QMJHL games. He played two seasons with the Moncton Wildcats and played with the Tigres last year. Tremaine, a defensive forward, registered eight goals and 22 helpers in 57 contests last season.

This trade might be the deal Sea Dogs general manager Darrell Young has been talking about that will bring in some additional leadership.

The most intriguing part of this is the fact that Tremaine will be a 20-year old this season, meaning another deal must be on the horizon. Goaltender Sebastien Auger, defenseman Michael Abbott, and forward Stephen Anderson are the trio of 1994-born players currently on the team’s roster.

Jean-Francois Plante of the Gatineau newspaper Le Droit posted a rumour blog today. One of the rumours involves Auger and Jack Eichel’s rights going to the Quebec Remparts in a deal that would see highly touted 1997-born goaltender Callum Booth come back the other way (there would likely be other stuff/conditional picks also involved, of course). If this rumour is true, it would be a blockbuster deal – and one that logically makes sense for both teams.

We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks. It is a fun time to be a follower of the league.
