Notebook: Zboril, Czechs Defeat Americans

Jakub Zboril and the Czech Republic got off to a good start at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament today.

The Sea Dogs defensive prospect had a goal and an assist in the Czech’s 4-2 victory over the United States. Zboril scored his team’s first goal on a five-on-three power play.

“Zboril is a smart defenseman with good size who can contribute at both ends of the rink, including on the power play,” writes Kennedy.

The Czech Republic take on Finland tomorrow and Russia on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Team Canada opened up the under-18 tournament with a 5-1 win over Switzerland. The Canadians take on Sweden tomorrow.
