Galiev On Serious Hot Streak

How good has Stanislav Galiev been of late? So good there is talk him possibly getting called up to the Washington Capitals.

Galiev recorded two goals and an assist last night as his Hershey Bears defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 6-3. The Russian forward has just six goals and two assists in 15 games with the Bears this season but five of those goals have come in the past four games.

"The thing I like about Galiev is he's competing in all areas," Bears head coach Troy Mann told PennLive.com. "Does he have the odd turnover? Everybody does. He's getting in the forecheck. He's being physical. He's back-pressuring through the neutral zone. That's what I like about him right now. He's playing a more complete game.

"The kid's obviously got a lot of confidence right now. It's great to see. Especially here the last three or four games, he's been really the only guy."

Galiev, who scored Hershey’s two first goals last night, had provided all of the team’s offence up until the Bears exploded for four additional goals in their Friday win.
His four game goal scoring streak is the longest current streak in the AHL and is tied for the longest this season.
Galiev, who played with Saint John from 2009-2012, has had his struggles in the professional ranks, bouncing back and forth between the AHL’s Bears and ECHL’s Reading Royals. Finally, in his third season of pro hockey, he might be breaking out.

The Moscow native was a third round pick of the Capitals in the 2010 NHL Draft.
