Sea Dogs forward Mathieu Joseph has been suspended for four games.
Joseph was suspended “until further
notice” this past weekend following a checking to the head major penalty and game
misconduct during the second period of Friday’s Sea Dogs game in Rouyn-Noranda.
From Lorne’s game recap on Friday:
With 1:23 left in the second, Mathieu Joseph caught Ryan Penny with a blindside hit that sent Penny crashing face first to the ice. After the ensuing scrum, Joseph was given a major and game misconduct for checking to the head and various other penalties were assessed to both teams.
Joseph, in his second season with Saint John, has eight goals and eight assists in 32 games this year. He’ll miss Thursday’s game against Bathurst as well as the team’s next two following the Christmas break.

ReplyDeleteI just watched the video on the suspension on the QMJHL site. Unfortunately Mathieu blindsided Ryan Penny, although it wasn't intentional, Penny ended up with a concussion from the whiplash, as they explained, so the 4 game suspension is justified. Mathieu will be back for the Jan.3/15 in Halifax, so he'll be well rested. GO SEA DOGS GO !
