GAME DAY 39: at Charlottetown

A preview of today’s game between the Saint John Sea Dogs and Charlottetown Islanders…

Records: The Sea Dogs are second in the Maritimes Division, fifth overall in the QMJHL and ranked ninth in the CHL Top 10 with a 23-10-1-4 record for 51 points. The Islanders are fourth in the Maritimes and 12th overall with a 19-19-1-1 record for 40 points.

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-1 win over the Halifax Mooseheads last night at Harbour Station. Spencer Smallman scored twice while singles came from Jakub Zboril and Adam Marsh. Sebastien Auger made 30 saves in the win. The Islanders are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Friday at Centre 200. Bradley Kennedy had Charlottetown’s lone goal while Mason McDonald made 22 saves in the loss.

2014-15 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 2-1-1-1 against the Islanders this season while Charlottetown is 3-1-0-1 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Nov. 27 at Eastlink Centre when the Islanders scored four goals in the third period to down the Sea Dogs 6-5. Filip Chlapik and Alexandre Goulet each scored twice while Bradley Kennedy and Ross Johnston added singles for Charlottetown. Thomas Chabot, Nathan Noel, Matthew Highmore, Samuel Dove-McFalls and Mathieu Joseph all scored for Saint John. Mason McDonald made 31 saves in the win while Sebastien Auger made 32 in the loss.
