LeBlanc Tweets His Goodbye

The Sea Dogs still haven’t confirmed the trade, but Olivier LeBlanc responded via Twitter this morning to the deal that will see him join the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
The deal will see LeBlanc and prospect Declan Smith head to Cape Breton while Drummondville’s 2015 first-round pick and defenseman Jason Bell will come to Saint John.

It’s going to take some time to digest this trade as it’s not everyday a team’s captain is surprisingly traded - even in the QMJHL where the unexpected is expected. Right now, it looks as though Cape Breton will immediately win this deal but Saint John may be the big winner in a year or so.

The QMJHL’s trading period ends tomorrow at 1 p.m. Atlantic time.

  2. Yes, it sad to see him go, but this is junior hockey, every year is the mad scramble to get a playoff berth and maybe a league championship or a Memorial Cup. This is the great thing about junior hockey, the players are always under a microscope all the time and the teams are always looking ahead to next season and looking for the 18-year olds who will take them to the top.
