Second Round Matchups Set

An overtime goal by Nikolaj Ehlers has finalized the QMJHL's second round playoff matchups. They are as follows:

Rimouski (1) vs Gatineau (14)

Moncton (2) vs Halifax (12)

Quebec (4) vs Charlottetown (9)

Val-d’Or (6) vs Baie-Comeau (7)

Ehlers’ goal at 16:59 of OT gave the Mooseheads a 3-2 game seven victory over the Shawinigan Catatactes. In the other game seven tonight, the Memorial Cup host Quebec Remparts erased a 2-0 first period deficit to eliminate the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles with a 6-3 win.

There is no doubt that this was the best first round in recent QMJHL history. The second round matchups look promising as well.

For those interested in heading up to Moncton, games one and two will be on Friday and Saturday night at the Coliseum. It’s going to be hot – dress appropriately.
