DOGS DAILY: Zboril Invited To WJC Camp

It was announced yesterday that Sea Dogs defenseman Jakub Zboril has been invited to the Czech Republic’s world junior evaluation camp.

Zboril was one of 33 players invited to the camp. A few other QMJHL players received invites, including Charlottetown Islanders forward Filip Chlapik.

According to a Sea Dogs news release, Zboril “participated in the club's U20 summer camp in the Czech Republic in June and represented his country at a U20 Three Nations tournament in Calgary in August.

“Other recent international experience includes the 2015 U18 World Championship in Switzerland, where he picked up one goal and one assist in three games. He also played in the 2014 U18 World Championship, the 2013 and 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournaments and the 2013 World Junior A Challenge.”

The Boston Bruins prospect has three goals and six assists in 20 games with Saint John this season.

That trio includes former Dogs forward Kelly Bent who has one goal and two assists in 22 games this year. Bent has “been playing his role as an energetic agitator as well as anyone in the QMJHL,” writes Scott MacIntosh.

• According to RDS' Stephane Leroux, Wednesday's postponed Sea Dogs-Titan game in Bathurst will now be played on Wednesday, March 15. Saint John will now play nine games during the stretch between March 3-19. That's nine games over a 17 day period to end the regular season.
