GAME DAY 40: at Bathurst

The Saint John Sea Dogs (23-13-3-0, 49 points, 2nd Maritimes, 8th QMJHL) are on the road in Bathurst tonight to face the Titan (16-21-2-2, 36 points, 4th Maritimes, 14th QMJHL) at 7 p.m.

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 3-1 win in Cape Breton on Sunday. Ryan Chiasson, Nathan Noel and Adam Marsh all scored for the Sea Dogs while Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 28 saves in the victory. The Titan are coming off a 7-4 home loss to the Screaming Eagles last night. Daniil Miromanov scored twice while Francis Thibeault and Nicholas Blanchard added singles. Reilly Pickard was pulled after allowing six goals on 40 shots in 46:29 of action.

2015-16 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 2-1-1-0 against the Titan this season while Bathurst is 2-1-0-1 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Dec. 29 in Bathurst where the Sea Dogs defeated the Titan 6-5 in a shootout. Saint John had a 4-1 lead entering the third period but ultimately needed a shootout to secure the win.

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Titan: Forward Dawson Theede and defenseman Jason Bell.

Player to watch: Daniil Miromanov has goals in three straight games, which gives him 13 goals and 27 points in 41 games this season.

Three Things to Know
1. Can the Sea Dogs hold down a lead? The last two meetings between these two saw Saint John blow third period leads. Both games ended 6-5 in extra time.

2. Both the Sea Dogs and Titan have been playing decent hockey of late. Saint John is 7-2-1-0 in their last 10 games while Bathurst is 6-3-0-1.

3. Vladimir Kuznetsov (40 points – 5th), Antoine Morand (34 points – 6th) and Daniil Miromanov (27 points – 11th) are all in the top 11 of rookie scoring.

Other notes: Vladimir Kuznetsov has assists in five straight home games… Nicolas Dumulong is second in the league in penalty minutes… Christophe Boivin is second in the league in shots… Marc-Antoine Turcotte has the fourth best GAA (2.81) in the Q while his SV% (.911) is second best… the Titan are averaging 12.68 penalty minutes per game, the third fewest in the league… the Titan are 9-9-1-1 on home ice this year… the Sea Dogs have won three straight games overall and three straight on the road.
