GAME DAY 42: vs Islanders

The Saint John Sea Dogs (25-13-3-0, 2nd Maritimes, 6th QMJHL) host the Charlottetown Islanders (16-21-3-2, 5th Maritimes, 14th QMJHL) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Harbour Station.

Last games: The Islanders are coming off a 3-1 home win over the Rimouski Oceanic on Saturday. Jake Coughler, Bradley Kennedy and Mitchell Balmas scored for Charlottetown while Matthew Welsh made 26 saves in the victory. The Sea Dogs are coming off a 5-4 victory over Rimouski at Harbour Station on Sunday. Matthew Highmore had a hat trick while singles came from Nathan Noel and Sam Povorozniouk. Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 33 stops in the win.

2015-16 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 4-0-0-0 against the Islanders this season while Charlottetown is 0-4-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: New Year’s Eve at Harbour Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Islanders 3-2. Mathieu Joseph, Spencer Smallman and Matt Murphy all scored for Saint John while Charlottetown goals came from Daniel Sprong and Mitchell Balmas. Marc-Antoine Turcotte made 36 saves in the win while Guillaume Briand-Briere made 26 in the loss.

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Islanders: Forward Oliver Cooper and defenseman Will Thompson.

Player to watch: Mathieu Joseph has points in 10 straight home games. He’s accumulated 18 points during that stretch.

1. While the Sea Dogs have a perfect 4-0 record against the Islanders this season, each game has been close. Three of the four meetings have been decided by a goal.
