Dogs trade Hardy-Murray in minor deal

The Saint John Sea Dogs have made only one move on the opening day of the QMJHL’s draft trading period.

The Sea Dogs traded goaltender William Hardy-Murray to the Victoriaville Tigres in exchange for a ninth-round pick in this year’s draft.

Hardy-Murray, a 12^th-round pick of Saint John last year, never suited up for the Sea Dogs. A native of Pont-Rouge, Quebec, the 16-year-old played 21 games with the Quebec Typhon of the Quebec Midget Espoir League last year, posting a 2.71 goals against average. He also appeared in eight games with Seminaire St-Francois Blizzard of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League (LHMAAAQ).

The trade gives the Sea Dogs 13 picks in tomorrow’s draft. The show begins at 10 a.m. in Charlottetown.

In other trades today, former Sea Dogs defenseman Jason Bell was traded by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to the Val-d’Or Foreurs in exchange for Olivier Desjardins.

Marcus Tesink, the brother of former Sea Dogs forward Ryan Tesink, was traded by the Moncton Wildcats to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in exchange for a 2016 sixth-round pick.

The biggest deal of the day saw the Sherbrooke Phoenix officially trade Jeremy Roy to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in exchange for two first round picks and a second rounder.
