MacAulay signs with ECHL Florida

Former Sea Dogs forward Stephen MacAulay has signed with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.

MacAulay has spent most of the past three seasons with the Saint Mary’s Huskies of Atlantic University Sport. The 24-year-old has played pro hockey previously, appearing in eight games with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs and 12 matches with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers in 2013-14.

“Stephen is a big, strong versatile forward,” said Everblades head coach Brad Ralph in a press release. “He has a team first mindset and will be an impact role player for us.”

MacAulay is one of the winningest junior hockey players ever, appearing in four President Cup finals and three Memorial Cups. He won three QMJHL championships and two national titles during his time with the Sea Dogs and Halifax Mooseheads.

The Nova Scotian was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Draft.

MacAulay played 20 games of pro hockey in 2013-14 before joining the Saint Mary’s Huskies, where he has played ever since.

Former Sea Dogs forward Michael Kirkpatrick recently signed with the Everblades.
