DiDomenico expected to make NHL debut tonight

Chris DiDomenico is expected to make his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators tonight.

The 28-year-old hasn't played in North America since the 2011-12 season where he split the year in the American and East Coast hockey leagues.

It's been a long road for DiDomenico, who was drafted into the NHL by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth-round of the 2007 draft.

Senators head coach Guy Boucher told the Ottawa Citizen that he expects the former Saint John Sea Dogs forward to be, obviously, a bit nervous in his debut.

The Sens are in Arizona to face the Coyotes at 10 p.m. Atlantic. The game can be seen on TSN5.

DiDomenico joined the Sea Dogs as a free agent in 2006. He became one of the team's first stars, playing with the club up until the 2009 world juniors where he was then traded to Drummondville - in a deal that  later involved current Senators forward Mike Hoffman.

In 203 career QMJHL games, DiDomenico registered 90 goals and 251 points.

DiDomenico signed a one-way deal with the Senators for this season on Feb. 27.

The Woodbridge, ON native has spent the past five seasons overseas, playing with the SCL Tigers for the past three. This season, DiDomenico has 10 goals and 28 assists in 48 games.
