Game Day 17: vs Huskies

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs will try to snap their nine-game losing streak against one of the league's top teams this afternoon.

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, who sit second overall in the QMJHL and were third in last week's CHL Top 10, make their lone appearance of the regular season at Harbour Station today. Game time is 3 p.m.

Following yesterday's ugly 4-2 loss to the Val-d'Or Foreurs, the Dogs carry a nine game losing skid into this match. They have not won a game since Oct. 6.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 3-9-3-1 (10 points, 6th Maritimes, 18th QMJHL) while the Huskies are 10-2-1-2 (23 points, 1st West, 2nd QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-2 loss to the Val-d'Or Foreurs last night at Harbour Station. Cole Reginato and Kevin Gursoy scored for Saint John while Alex D'Orio made 28 stops in the loss. The Huskies are coming off a surprising 2-0 loss in Charlottetown on Saturday. Zachary Emond made 24 saves in the loss.

2017-18 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the two teams.

2016-17 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 1-1-0-0 against the Huskies last season while Rouyn-Noranda went 1-1-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Oct. 22, 2016 at Harbour Station where the Huskies defeated the Sea Dogs 5-1. Evan MacKinnon, Peter Abbandonato, Jean-Christophe Beaudin, Gabriel Fontaine and Jérémy Diotte scored for Rouyn-Noranda. Nathan Noel had Saint John's lone goal. Samuel Harvey made 29 saves in the win. Alex Bishop was pulled after allowing three goals on 13 shots. Alex D'Orio allowed two goals on 17 shots in relief.
