Huberdeau makes history with Panthers

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs' all-time leading scorer has become the leading scorer of another franchise.

Jonathan Huberdeau recorded his 420th point as a member of the Florida Panthers on Sunday night, passing Olli Jokinen as the NHL franchise's all-time leading scorer.

Fittingly, the record breaking point came on a Mike Hoffman goal - who Huberdeau played with during the 2009-10 Sea Dogs season.

After quietly recording 92 points last season, Huberdeau is on pace to have the best campaign of his NHL career. With a goal and an assist in Florida's 8-4 blowout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday, Huberdeau now has 18 goals and 61 points in 45 games.

Huberdeau will participate in the NHL All-Star Game for the first time in his career later this month.

The 26-year-old recorded 257 points in 195 QMJHL games with the Sea Dogs over three-and-a-half seasons.
