Dufour invited to Canada WJC camp

Saint John Sea Dogs forward William Dufour will get a chance to crack Canada's roster for the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Dufour was one of the 35 players named to Team Canada's camp roster on Wednesday afternoon. The team's selection camp will take place Dec. 9-12 in Calgary, meaning this weekend's three-in-three in Quebec will be Dufour's final Sea Dogs games before he heads west.

The 19-year-old has been one of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's best players all season long. He currently leads the league in goals with 18 and sits second in points with 38.

The New York Islanders prospect previously played for Canada at the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Dufour and former Sea Dogs forward Joshua Roy were two of the eight players from the QMJHL to receive an invite.

The camp will include two games against U Sports all-stars Dec. 11-12 in Calgary.

This year's world juniors are scheduled to take place Dec. 26 - Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer.
