HALIFAX - The Saint John Sea Dogs got some revenge on the Halifax Mooseheads on Wednesday.

After the Mooseheads defeated the Sea Dogs 5-4 on Sunday at TD Station, Saint John picked up a road win of their own by defeating Halifax 6-4 at Scotiabank Centre.

Philippe Daoust had two goals and an assist while singles came from Olivier Picard, Vincent Sevigny, William Dufour and Nathan Drapeau. Thomas Couture overcame a rough start to make 26 stops in the victory.

Like the past few Sea Dogs games, this was not a work of art. Saint John struggled in the first period, going back-and-forth with the Mooseheads and giving up three goals on 12 shots. But a quick goal from Sevigny in the second period seemed to calm things down. The final 40 minutes were much less chaotic and Saint John held an edge in play for much of it.

Zachary Beauregard, James Swan, Elliot Desnoyers and Bobby Orr scored for Halifax. Brady James made 29 saves in the loss.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without goaltender Noah Patenaude (injury); defenseman Yan Kuznetsov (injury); and forwards Cam MacDonald (injured or sick), Peter Reynolds (injury) and Jacob Chantler (injured).

COUTURE: Thomas Couture got the start in goal after Nikolas Hurtubise was pulled in the third period of Sunday's Sea Dogs loss to the Mooseheads. Couture overcame a rough start - allowing two goals in the opening five minutes - to earn the victory. He made a few big stops when the game was still close.

GARTLEY: The Sea Dogs dressed 11 forwards and seven defensemen with Cam MacDonald not playing in this game. Hunter Gartley dressed as the seventh defenseman, playing in his first game with the Sea Dogs since Dec. 18.

INTERMISSION: There was a literal standoff between Olivier Picard and Brady James during the second intermission to see who would leave the ice last. James eventually left and Picard stayed out until there was about 13 minutes remaining in the intermission before heading to the dressing room. This has happened a few times between the Sea Dogs and James this season.
STAYING HOT: Philippe Daoust just keeps on piling up the points. He posted another two goals and an assist Wednesday to give him 19 goals and 13 assists in just 24 games.

DUFOUR: William Dufour scored his 46th goal of the season in the third period, putting him into a tie with Mike Hoffman (2009-10) for second most goals scored in a single season by a Sea Dogs player. Dufour also extended his points streak to 15 games.
CRAZY GOAL: Nathan Drapeau scored one of the season's weirdest goals in the third.
SEASON SERIES: This was the final meeting of the regular season between the Sea Dogs and Mooseheads. Saint John won six of the eight meetings. There is a chance the two could meet in the opening round of the playoffs.

NOTES: The Mooseheads had a first period power play goal called back due to an offside... Raivis Ansons had his three-game goal scoring streak come to an end... the Mooseheads have now lost five straight home games... William Villeneuve had three assists... Jeremie Poirier had six shots... Nicholas Blagden had three hits... attendance was 4,182. Most of the Halifax population was stuck in line at the new Popeyes location in Bedford that opened earlier in the day.

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs travel to Sydney to face the Cape Breton Eagles on Friday at 7 p.m.
