SAINT JOHN
- The Saint John Sea Dogs lost their sixth straight game on Sunday, falling 6-2 to the league-leading Quebec Remparts.

Quebec scored two goals in the first 2:58 of the game and dominated puck possession at times. They also took advantage of Saint John's struggling penalty kill, going 2/4 on the man advantage.

James Malatesta scored a pair of goals for Quebec while singles came from Nathan Gaucher, Andrew Gweon, Davis Cooper and Zachary Bolduc. William Rousseau made 23 saves in his league-leading seventh victory of the season.

Quebec swept their three-game Maritime road trip and improved their record to 10-1-0-1.

This was the fifth straight game that Saint John allowed six or more goals. The team also struggled to get much going offensively with just 11 of their 25 shots being classified as dangerous.

Peter Reynolds and Cole Burbidge scored for Saint John. Ventsislav Shingarov allowed six goals on 30 shots in the loss.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without goaltender Nikolas Hurtubise (healthy); defensemen Jake Tracey (injury) and Jeremie Richard (healthy); and forwards Marshall Lessard (injury), Jacob Beaulieu (injury) and Tomasz Szczerba (injury).

ROUGH START: Quebec scored just 12 seconds into the game and made it 2-0 at 2:58. They added a power play goal late in the frame to lead 3-0. It was a less than ideal start - and Ventsislav Shingarov would no doubt like to have a goal or two back.
STREAKS: The Sea Dogs have now lost six straight games while the Remparts have won five. Quebec has earned at least a point in eight straight games (7-0-0-1).

SUCCESSFUL TRIP: The Remparts swept their three-game road trip through the Maritimes, which also saw wins in Bathurst (4-0) and Charlottetown (7-1). Quebec is now 5-0-0-0 against Maritimes Division clubs this season.

NOTES: This was the final meeting of the regular season between the Sea Dogs and Remparts... Quebec improved to 9-0-0-1 when scoring first. Saint John has opened the scoring just three times in their nine games... Pavel Simek was stopped on a penalty shot in the third period. It was the first penalty shot attempt for the Sea Dogs this season... Simek and Peter Reynolds each had four shots... attendance was 2,420.

HIGHLIGHTS

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs are back in action on Thursday, hosting the Gatineau Olympiques at 7 p.m.
