Video: Villeneuve scores first pro goal

William Villeneuve scored his first career professional goal on Friday.

The former Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman scored at 15:35 of the second period in the Toronto Marlies' 5-4 overtime loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Villeneuve's goal made it 4-1 Marlies at the time.
Villeneuve finished the game with a goal, an assist, one shot and a +1 rating. The 20-year-old Toronto Maple Leafs prospect now has a goal and four assists in eight games with the Marlies.

The Marlies sit second in the AHL's Eastern Conference with an 8-2-1-0 record.

Several members of Saint John's 2022 Memorial Cup championship team have scored their first career pro goals already this season. Villeneuve joins Jeremie Poirier (AHL Calgary), William Dufour (AHL Bridgeport), Philippe Daoust (AHL Belleville), Vincent Sevigny (AHL Bridgeport) and Ryan Francis (ECHL Trois-Rivieres).
