Recap: Sea Dogs win 3-2 (OT)

- The Saint John Sea Dogs are returning home with four of a possible six points on their three-game Quebec road trip.

Following a 3-2 win in Drummondville on Saturday, the Sea Dogs earned a 3-2 overtime victory over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Sunday at the Centre d'Excellence Sports Rousseau.

Cam MacDonald scored the overtime winner at 2:29. Charlie DesRoches and Eriks Mateiko scored in regulation time.

Nikolas Hurtubise was Saint John's best player in this game, making 38 stops in the victory. The Armada were outshooting the Sea Dogs 13-0 at one point in the first period, but Hurtubise made a number of solid saves to keep the game scoreless.

After a rough start in the first period, Saint John started to gain momentum. The Sea Dogs never trailed in this game and had a few opportunities to win the match in regulation time.

Jonathan Fauchon and Maximillian Streule scored for the Armada, who have now lost six straight games. Nicholas Sheehan made 28 stops in the loss.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without goaltender Ventsislav Shingarov (healthy); defensemen Jeremie Richard (injury) and Vincent Despont (one-game suspension); and forwards Peter Reynolds (injury), Nico Laforge (injury) and Sam-Luca Thifault (injury).

WINNER: Cam MacDonald scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season, tying him for second most in the QMJHL. The OT marker came on a lovely individual effort to get around an Armada defender.
NOTES: With a number of forwards injured, Saint John once again went with 11 forwards and seven defensemen... forward Tomasz Szczerba returned to the Saint John lineup after missing Saturday's game... affiliate defenseman Zach Welsh appeared in his second game of the season... defenseman Vincent Despont served a one-game suspension he received for a checking to the head match penalty on Saturday... Alexis Gendron, one of the league's leading goal scorers, missed the net on a penalty shot in the second period... it was teddy bear toss day in Boisbriand... Jared Cosman had two assists... Cole Burbidge and Brady Burns each had five shots... the Sea Dogs did not give the Armada a single power play in this game... Saint John won 34/59 faceoffs... this is just the second time all season that the Sea Dogs have won back-to-back games... this was just the second extra time game of the season for the Sea Dogs... attendance was 1,918.
