Game Day 44: at Bathurst

BATHURST - The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to end a three-game losing streak tonight at the KC Irving Regional Centre.

The Sea Dogs, who are just 2-8-0-0 in their last 10 games, visit the Acadie-Bathurst Titan this evening. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Gordie Dwyer's Titan, who unloaded many of their top players at the trade deadline, haven't been much better than the Sea Dogs of late, losing three straight and going 2-6-2-0 in their last 10.

This will be the fifth meeting of the season between the two. The season series has been split so far.

2022-23 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 14-27-1-1 for 30 points (sixth Maritimes/10th Eastern/18th QMJHL) while the Titan are 15-21-5-2 for 37 points (third Maritimes/seventh Eastern/15th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a wild 10-7 home loss to the Halifax Mooseheads on Saturday. Cole Burbidge recorded a hat trick for the Sea Dogs while singles came from Luka Benoit, Eriks Mateiko, Nicolas Bilodeau and Alexis Cournoyer. Olivier Brideau allowed nine goals on 41 shots in the loss. The Titan are coming off a 2-1 loss in Charlottetown on Sunday. Donovan Arsenault scored Bathurst's lone goal. Joshua Fleming made 30 stops in the loss.

2022-23 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 2-2-0-0 against the Titan this season while Bathurst is 2-2-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Dec. 30 in Bathurst where the Titan defeated the Sea Dogs 6-3. Alexandre Lallier scored a pair of goals for Bathurst while singles came from Joseph Henneberry, Riley Kidney, Dylan Andrews and Ben Allison. Alexis Cournoyer, Eriks Mateiko and Connor Trenholm scored for Saint John. Joshua Fleming made 23 saves in the win. Ventsislav Shingarov made 39 stops in the loss.

Titan to watch: Ben Allison has six goals in four games against Saint John this season.

Random stat: Following his four-point night last Saturday, Cole Burbidge has moved up to seventh in QMJHL rookie scoring with 27 points in 43 games.

Notes: Brady Burns continues to lead Saint John in points (44), goals (23) and assists (21)... Ben Allison leads the Titan in points (51), goals (25) and assists (26)... Saint John is 5-12-1-1 on the road... Bathurst is 12-5-4-1 at home... after giving up 10 goals last Saturday, the Sea Dogs are now averaging 4.81 goals against per game, the most in the league... the Titan have lost back-to-back home games.
